India's Top 10 Trending Topics During 2022

Discover the most searched and trending keywords on Google Trends for news, sports, technology, business, entertainment, and world current affairs.

A report by Google called "Year In Search 2022" highlights what made people buzz this year and got the most searches. Search trends in India have changed a lot, according to the list, which is released every year. The trending search list in 2021 was more about entertainment, games and other topics than Coronavirus-related queries.

Top 10 Searches in India

In India, the Indian Premier League (IPL) topped the overall search results for 2022, as well as the most searched sporting event. Next up was CoWIN, a government web portal that lets you sign up for COVID-19 vaccines and get digital vaccine certificates.

As of November 20, the FIFA World Cup kicked off in Qatar and was the third most searched trending topic in India. Aside from the Asia Cup, there was also the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, which ranked fourth and fifth. Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva ranked sixth and KGF: Chapter 2 was ninth.

The “near me” Google searches reflected how Indians reacted to dropping COVID-19 cases and relaxation of restrictions. Both in 2021 and 2022, “Covid vaccine near me” featured at the top of the list. However, this year, the most “near me” searches included “swimming pool near me”, “water park near me”, “movies near me” and other topics related to travel and outings. This was in contrast to last year's searches that included “COVID test near me”, “Oxygen cylinder near me”, and “COVID hospital near me”.
